Profound Paragraphs XIII

“Up out of the lampshade, startled by the overhead light, flew a large nocturnal butterfly that began circling the room. The strains of the piano and violin rose up weakly from below.”

Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being

With spring in the air, this bit of literary poetry sprang to mind.

What words from literature make you think of spring, or vice versa?

  1. You know, this is one of my favourite books ever ^^
    As for the spring question, I’d go with “The Cherubinic Pilgrim” by Angelus Silesius: “The rose is without why: it blooms because it blooms. It doesn’t pay any attention to itself, nor does it ask whether anyone sees it.”

  2. The lines did give me a chill… a sort of goosebumps… it shows a new beginning!!The poem, “I wandered lonely as a cloud” by Wordsworth, gets me thinking of spring. It is popularly reffered to as “Daffodils”!

    “A host, of golden daffodils;
    Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
    Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.”
