A Seussical Tribute

How appropriate that this year UK World Book Day falls on the Birthday of the legendary Dr. Seuss!

drseuss300Theodor Seuss Geisel was born today March 2 in 1904 in Springfield, MA. The pen nameDr. Seuss was developed during his years at  Dartmouth College and the University of Oxford. His first jobs were mainly that of an illustrator, working for such companies as Time magazine, Vanity Fair, and Life. Our beloved Dr. Seuss  later became a famous American writer and illustrator; who we know as the author of famous children’s books such as The Cat in The Hat, Oh The Places You Will Go, and How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Green Egg’s and Ham

The list goes on, and on. I have honestly never read a book by Dr. Seuss

His brilliance and charm have always captured my heart, as well as many others (of all ages and backgrounds.) I believe his clever and inspiring words will continue to have a profound effect on the literary minds of children, the world of education, and serve as an inspiration to those needing to get back to the basics.

Fun Fact:  During World War II, he worked in an animation department of the United States Army where he produced several short films, including Design for Death, which later won the 1947 Academy Award for Documentary Feature

  5. Years ago, I worked with teenagers on Habitat projects in low income areas. We’d sleep on the floor of churches at night and before bed I always read them a Dr. Suess story. I dragged those books everywhere we traveled. And if on any night I said, “We’re tired, let’s skip the story,” they’d insist that I still read. Sometimes the next day when we’d be sweating on a construction site, kids would start reciting from Suess (one of those kids memorized the Lorax and would recite it at some point on every trip) and sometimes we got in to very philosophical debates about the stories. I believe Suess was a gifted prophet of our times. Thanks for the memory.

To my friend that is not forgotten forgive me in 2017 because I have not commented due to the fact that I haven’t logged in. it is my understanding that you’re hooked on books where is most of the population is day read their books thanks to Google looks. I know this message is funny and no in case your friends asked you didn’t pay me money. I just wanted to make your day a little more sunny. You have me in a rhyming mood and I don’t mean to be rude to the rap world but I didn’t have to use autotune, besides I’m too busy watching Bible cartoons. PS: please read the shunning. I think your review of the book would be stunning.
