  1. How awesome! What wonderful ways to get young people involved in reading. Unfortunately, at the 8-12 complex where I taught, the two librarians retired and were replaced by a media specialist, many books were removed to make room for three computer labs, and the focus became technology. Such was the district focus. I wonder how many other schools did this. Not my focus though, so another teacher worked with me to create a Little Free Library in the main hallway.
It is good to see such innovation in these libraries-and so many books! Thanks for the great post.

  2. They are very creative, imaginative… alas for me, I’m afraid I would have found it all distracting. I just cared about the books even as a child. There was a tiny library in the UK that I saw online a few years ago. A small village had taken one of the old red telephone booths and made it into a library with the hopes that people would take a book and leave a book. Regardless, if such libraries get children reading, I’m all for it.
