I am a big fan of Fantasy Fiction but I am also very particular and picky about which books and series I choose to read, and eventually which books I like.


Here are the top 2 Fantasy Fiction books on my TBR:

I have nearly started this series SO many times, and I keep kicking myself for still not having started it. I have wanted to read it for so long, and have extremely high hopes for it, I just hope that I will love it as much as I anticipate.

This book was recommended to me by a fellow blogger, and once I checked it out, it quickly made it to my list of books to read.
Another best seller and award winner.

  1. Outlander is a gigantic yes from me!! You Have to read this, it’s an amazing book and the second is up there as well. I’m starting the third after my next ARC. I highly recommend!!

  3. I have read Outlander and all of the following books in the series. Stumbled on it by mistake, but was one of the best books I have ever read. Highly recommend. I am even a part of a group that follows the Starz series. The author truly transports you to the time and place with her writing. Very long books, but worth the read. I will have to check out the Graceling book.

  5. I read Graceling and I thought it was wonderful. Easy read, great characters, super fun magic. The others books by that author are fun as well.

  7. I have to say from what i’ve rwad and heard the time travel aspect is careless and ends up in a paradox.. Not fun for me.. Maybe you should take that into consideration.

  11. Outlander is one of my favorite books of all time! I’m probably in the minority here but I just couldn’t get into the TV show version. However, I do wholeheartedly recommend the book Outlander – it’s definitely one of those books you will stay up until the wee hours to finish! 🙂

  14. I liked Outlander. Great for anyone who likes fantasy and who likes fiction set in UK. I read two but that was enough. I liked Graceling and the second book. Thought I’d wait a while before I read the third. Let me say that I am not a lover of fantasy but I will read anything. If one liked fantasy I can see them liking both of these books very much.

  15. Yes yes yes! Read Graceling! I absolutely adore this book – the characters are so epic and adorable and it just a perfectly wonderful fantasy 🙂 That being said, I don’t think I’ve heard a single bad word said about Outlander although I haven’t read that one myself.

  16. I didn’t read “Outlander” so much as I inhaled it… It was one of those books that drove me to look things up, history and such. I was totally immersed in it. (Have also loved the TV series on Starz.) Imagine my amazement then when I couldn’t even get into book 2, “Dragonfly in Amber.” I hear there’s something truly wrong with me! I haven’t heard of the other one, but it sounds really good.

  23. Ooh…Graceling looks interesting. Like you, I had Outlander on my To Read shelf for a long time. When I finally did read it I was a bit disappointed. The story is fun and well done, but I couldn’t get over the fact that the female lead never really seems to suffer from any culture shock when she gets thrown back a couple centuries. I wouldn’t NOT recommend it based in that, but I didn’t continue with the series after the first book.

  24. I love the Outlander series. Read the first one and you’ll be hooked. There’s a series about one of the secondary characters in the series, Lord John Gray. I like these just as much. Happy reading!

  27. I loved Graceling! But I have tried to get into the Outlander series and just haven’t managed it. Seems like so many people love it though! Maybe I’ll have to give them another go.

    • Most people do yes, but there have been a few that actually said they couldn’t get into it. You never know, we all have little things that will make or break a book, that can be unique to us.

  28. Outlander is the best; I say that because my husband who ‘eats’ books, finds this series one of his favorites. He has all of the books, in hardback. Now, coming from him, “Mr. Reader of everything”, that is a huge endorsement.

  29. I loved Outlander! I’ve read it multiple times and I find the authors story to be fascinating as well. I do think she suffers quite a bit but manages to use her futuristic knowledge to help her in difficult situations… It’s almost like she doesn’t have time for culture shock since she’s thrown into the thick of things immediately upon arrival.

  30. I read Graceling ages ago. I actually ended up reading the prequel first, because my mum bought me it out of order as gift. But it is such a good series, and I love all the characters. I just finished Outlander this week, and it smashed my expectations, I also thought it had been over-hyped.
    Both are great books, and you should definitely read them soon.
