Treasure Island
by Robert Louis Stevenson

The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle

I read this book when I was younger but I remember loving it. It is definitely one of the books that sparked my love of novels. It was a thoroughly engrossing tale of a young girls arduous sea journey among a ship full of unsavory sailors. It’s a great story were prim and proper Charlotte changes to a swashbuckling mate of a mutinous crew, and is even accused of murder.

The Princess Bride: S. Morgenstern’s Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure

This is one of my favorite stories of all time! You will not find another book so full of adventure, humor, romance, action, and camaraderie. Well, you might, but please share it with me because I’ve yet to find a book equal to the balance and brilliance of “The Princess Bride.” You will find these pages rich in character and satire.

Book Bean: Piraté Au Lait
Get out your best stein. Pour in rum, coffee liqueur, and a glob of buttered rum. Fill 3/4 the way full with hot coffee/espresso. Top it off with warm and slightly whipped (or steam frothed) cream and cinnamon.

Peter Pan and Wendy by J.M. Barrie
This montage would not be complete without the famous Captain James Hook and mermaids of Neverland! The book I have pictured here is the Centenary Edition (Sterling Illustrated Classics.) This timeless tale never grows up, it is magical and captivating. Reading it is charming and will remind you of childhood fun and joy. There is always time for an adventure!

Neverland by Anna Katmore
I had to include a tbr in my little book array and this one looks inviting. An adaptation of the classic “Peter Pan.” It looks like a compelling book full of fun and adventured but geared a bit more to grown-ups. Angelina McFarland loves reading fairytales. But she never dreamed of falling right into one herself. That’s exactly what happens when she slips on her balcony and a flying Peter Pan catches her mid-fall. Ending up in Neverland where no one seems to age and laws of nature are out of control

Lost Ocean: An Inky Adventure
and Coloring Book by Johanna Basford
I thought I’d change it up a bit and add a touch of fun. These coloring books are SO beautiful and so fun to dive into. They are not only full of stunning pictures with intricate detail, they also have a bit of a game to them. It is an enchanting way to unwind, and this one in particular will blow you down!

  5. What a fun post! I hadn’t heard of the Peter Pan geared towards adults, I’m going to look into it. The coloring book looks really cool.

    We have the Little Golden book of Peter Pan and I bet it’s been read 100 times. 🙂

  6. There are so many really cool pirate books, and yet pirate movies are horrible. They started with “Treasure Island” and “Captain Blood,” and then never made another good one. Like, what was that thing with Geena Davis? Awful, just awful!

      • Black Sails is good, but gritty. There are a few elements that I find irritating (the inconsistency of Eleanor’s demeanor, for one), and I have caught them on one historical boo boo (only because I did research on the history of Savannah, Georgia for my pirate books; going by the time frame their story is supposed to fall in, THEY mentioned Savannah about 15 years before it was founded). Other than that, quite enjoyable.

      • Oh that would annoy me too, I have a habit of checking facts when I’m reading or watching historical fiction. On another note, Savannah is a fascinating place, have you ever read “Midnight in The Garden of Good and Evil?” Very interesting book. I’m very interested in you books 🙂

      • Yes, I read “The Book” not long after it came out, before the movie adaption. I was living in Hagen, Georgia a tiny blink in the road just on the west edge of Claxton, Georgia at the time. Both are only about a 45 minute drive west of Savannah.

  7. Treasure Island’s author is buried in Western Samoa, where he was known as Tusitalia – the English translation being ‘story teller’. I was fortunate to stay at the hotel in Apia, which is named after him.

    • There area so many new and exciting drinks in all different cultures; Mexico has a great one and so does Ireland. There are also a few more in the Italian and French culture, that are more well known. I love trying variations and experiencing different coffee cultures.

  18. Princess Bride is one of my absolute favorite books….yes, I have many favorite books, but still. It’s so good!! I loved the movie first, but then when I realized that I hadn’t read the book I got right on it. And, as usual, the book is even better!

  19. I would love to read treasure island and the princess bride. The princess Bride is such a wonderful movie, I watched it when I was little and just loved it. Now I want to read the book, I hear it’s even better than the film:)
    I love Johanna Basford’s books! I’ve got Lost Ocean only recently, have yet to do a review, but all her colouring books are so great. And finding all the hidden extra things is that added bonus 🙂 I like Millie Marotta’s books too.

      • I’d recommend them both, lol. Animal Kingdom has lots of different animals in it, a real variety but I have to say I personally prefer Tropical Island…only because of the peacock in there and other more exotic things like the horn bill :). I’ll have to upload some pictures of both books. Or you could wait a bit for the new one to come out, here in the UK the Wild Savannah comes out on the 11th February. I already pre-ordered mine! You can probably guess I’m really into my colouring books! 🙂
