Here are my thoughts so far:

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles book 1) is a pleasant read so far, it is what you would expect from a YA book; easy, fast read. I haven’t been overwhelmed with delight by it, yet, but it’s also not a genre or style I’m usually drawn to. I decided to read it only because of all the hype, I didn’t like being out of the loop. I can see how fans of Twilight, and books of that nature, would be drawn to this series. So far it is interesting enough, although quite cliche and very predictable. I already feel like I know how the whole book is going to play out, and I prefer a little more mystery and intrigue to my reads. It is however a unique take on a classic fairytale, and I give the author kudos for that. Overall I think it is a well written story with a plot and style typical to YA literature. It is a worthwhile book to read if you like this style. If I feel overwhelmingly different when I complete the book, I will be sure to post an update.

Book Bean:
I ‘m drinking a Flat White from Starbucks

If you like your drinks unsweetened, and really want to taste the coffee flavor, this is a great drink.
Originating in Australia, it is made with 2 short shots, whole milk steamed fast, and no sweeteners.

Thank you Molly @mollysrealestateadventure

  1. I have read Cinder! Since I’m a young adult, I really enjoyed it… Especially the romantic sub-plot. The books following Cinder (Scarlet, Cress and Winter) are not as engaging and original as Cinder in my opinion, however. Keep reading Abbie… It’s an exciting ending I assure you 🙂

  2. Enjoyable nails. That’s really all I have to say. Oh and I was not a fan of twilight. I say ‘was’ because I am glad the fad is dead. Oh and I prefer a long black, I think also originated from Australia. Ok that’s all I have to say. Enjoy the rest of your book, too. Okay that’s it.

  3. I wouldn’t compare Cinder to Twilight, having read both series. Where Twilight has been criticized for Bella”s lack of strength in character, Cinder and the rest of the Lunar Chronicles series is packed with strong female characters. It also has much more depth to the plot in that it’s clearly thought out and there aren’t any holes in the logic. It’s much more than a re-telling of a fairy tale; it’s a mixture of YA dystopian, fairy tale re-telling, sci-fi, and politics (maybe not so much in the first book). I hope you stick with it and come away with more than “it’s like Twilight”.

  4. I love your nails, by the way! 🙂 I really enjoyed Cinder. Although the plot is somewhat predictable, I enjoyed the unique twist on it with Cinder being a cyborg, and I think Cinder is a strong character. I didn’t enjoy Scarlet as much, but I’m hoping to pick up Cress soon. I hope you enjoy the rest of the book!

  7. Flat white – yummy! I love your nails too!

RE Cinder this is on my TBR pile, I’m hoping to get to it this year, now that the series is finished. (I hate having to wait for books in a series to be released!)

  8. Reading a book with a good coffee is one of my favorite things in the world! I love that you include both.
And Flat Whites are amazing! I had to practice for quite awhile before I could make one perfectly (I used to work at Starbucks).
