Enchanting Books

this1Among my favorite books you will find a similar theme; I love books that are enchanting. Books that are deep yet ethereal. So I made a list of these magical delights.

Here is my list of enchant worthy books:
(click any photo or title for more info.)

Beauty
This is a wonderful re-telling of the classic Beauty and The Beast by Robin McKinley. Beauty and The Beast is my favorite fairy tale story (go figure.) The tale itself is mysterious and beautiful. I love this adaptation, it captured the essence of Beauty and The Beast perfectly.

Book Bean: Matcha Green Tea
This book is less dark and eerie and more midsummer night dreamy.

The Gargoyle

I know I have mentioned this book before, but it’s my favorite so what can I say. This book by Andrew Davidson is so captivating and lovely. I read it and wanted to flip back to the front and start over. It was like a novel of pure poetry.

Book Bean: Cinnamon Dulce Mocha
Mocha with vanilla extract and sprinkled with cinnamon.

Sabriel
This is the first book in a series “The Abhorsen Trilogy” by Garth Nix. I loved this whole series. The world Garth Nix created IS so very enchanting. The writing was great, the story was enthralling, and reading it was blissful.

Book Bean: Dirty Chai
Either  a shot of espresso in your Chai or reverse it and
put a shot of  Chai in your black coffee.

The Chronicles of Narnia
Again yes I’ve mentioned these books before but I have to include them as an enchanting series. They are magical and delightful and I adore each book. When you read them you enter another world, from which you never want to return.

Book Bean: Peppermint Hot Cocoa
Add a little peppermint extract to your favorite cocoa or
use candies for sweeter twist.

The Secret Garden

I really love this story. It is very endearing and has great character development. It’s a story of self-discovery, friendship, and of making the best from hardships and adversity. I loved the message, it is one that has stayed with me through the years.

Book Bean:
Lavender tea with raw honey.
I love lavender tea and it is so good alone or with a drizzle of raw honey.

These books captivate me with an allure that make me want to read them again, just to experience the feeling and emotions time after time.

    • I feel like Sabriel is kind of this under the radar fantastic book, that I need to tell more people about. However, when I do because they haven’t heard of it they shrug it off like “sure I’ll read it sometime” meanwhile I’m like NO it’s SO good, go read it now and tell me what you think? I love to discuss books. I’m so glad to have this place now, with great people who are as obsessed with books as I am!

    • I hope you like The Gargoyle, not everyone sees it as I do. If you read it please let me know your thoughts. I’ve only known one other to have read it, and I’m dying for feedback. 🙂

  1. Oh my goodness – Secret Garden is one of those books that I’ve read over and over again. It grabs me just as much now as it did when I was in elementary school. Gargoyle sounds really interesting… I hadn’t heard of that one before but I think I’m going to add it to the list!

  3. Thanks Abby Lu, Love almost all of these…though I haven’t read Garth Nix or The Gargoyle. I’ll have to check in on them. You liked Ender’s Game so I think you might also like Enchanted by Card. It is his very Russian folklore take on Sleeping Beauty set between medieval times and modern day. Very good! Jo
